Biker Saturday

Last Saturday, Tim and I went to Gover Harley-Davidson in Piqua, OH for their Spring Fling as vendors. The day was a total bust sales-wise; it was in the low 50's and spitting rain. But the people were nice, we made some vendor contacts, we got free hot dogs and sodas, and the Harleys were cool!

We sell No Sweat Sweat and Odor Eliminators, odor eliminators that are flannel sachets filled with cedar. They work amazingly well for stinky shoes, gym bags, helmets, etc. Anyhow, we are pretty new in the vendor arena, we have to gussy up our space a bit, but we're getting out, and that's a start.

Now for the bikes! My husband rides, I am terrified. But I like to look, I love chrome, and I love bikes that have a vintage feel (no big surprise there).

The only other vendor to show up sews patches onto leathers. She's been doing it for 20 years and uses the coolest vintage Singer (looked like it was from the late 1800's).

Here's her rad fringed leather vest. You can't tell me this isn't cool.

So remember: Watch for bikes. With the higher gas prices, there's more and more on the road. Most motorcycle accidents don't happen because of driver error but because of other vehicles striking the motorcyclist. They either didn't see them or didn't provide an assured clear distance. End public service announcement.

Hi Erin,

You have a neat item for sale! I also appreciate the safety message. Our daughter rides and is extremely careful. She attended the Ohio Motocycle Safety Course more than once. After she went the first time she went with friends to convince them it was important.

Best,
Lois
